"Error Saving Options"

Jeff Stapleton Aug 01, 2013 04:29PM EDT

I upgraded to the new Flux theme. When I go to update any styling option, I get the error "Error Saving Options." I've deleted the theme and re-installed many times. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jeff,

Sorry to hear you’re having issues, when are you installing the theme via the theme installer or via FTP? If you’ve been uploading via FTP, try uploading the .zip file using WP’s theme installer instead, and then try saving again. We’ve had some customers report the same issue when uploading via FTP, what we’ve been able to pinpoint is that some FTP programs are corrupting some of the javascript files likely because of the compression used when minifying the files for better performance.

If the issue remains even after using the theme installer, that means some sort of error is occurring on the server when the options are being saved or when the stylesheet is being written. There’s really only two ways to diagnose the problem: If your web host provides access to the error logs and has logging turned on, it should be recording the errors in the logs, if you could email them to us, or copy and paste the most recent entries we can try to diagnose the problem that way, OR we can see what errors are being returned when saving the options if you can email us Admin credentials for your site so we can log in and take a look.

I've installed both ways... in the admin panel, and via ftp. Each time, it acts the same. I host with 1&1. If we can't get this figured out, is there any way to access the previous version of this theme?

Could you email me the address to email my login credentials?

Hi Jeff, you can send us your login credentials by clicking the ‘Email Us’ link on the right side of the page in the Contact Us section. Once we receive the login credentials we’ll take a look and get it sorted out ASAP. Thanks!
