Contact Form and Google Analytics Event Tracking

Patti Dalessio Feb 28, 2013 09:24PM EST

Hi There,

Would you please advise, what's the best way to enable Google Analytics Event Tracking when a user clicks the "Send" button on your Contact Form?

Thanks in advance,

Hi Patti,

You can add event tracking to the contact form to track when someone clicks the Submit button by pasting the code below into the ‘Footer Javascript’ box that’s in the Custom Javascript tab of the Advanced section in the theme options. The line that contains _gaq.push(…) is the line that sends the data to Google Analytics, you can read more on what those values mean here: and adjust them to your liking. The code below also assumes that you’ve already enabled Google analytics by entering your Analytics ID on the Settings→General tab of the theme options.

jQuery(function() {
$(‘#contact_submit’).on(‘click’, function() {
gaq.push([’trackEvent’, ‘Contact Form’, ‘Submit’, ‘User Submitted Form’]);
